Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How will I know if you're the right therapist for me?

The only way to really know if we're a good fit is to sign up and schedule an intake appointment with me. I promise to listen to your concerns and help you identify goals we can work on together, I may suggest additional resources that would be beneficial for you and if for any reason you feel you are not making progress or are not feeling improvement after a few sessions, I will assist in helping you find another therapist upon your request.

Q: What can I expect from each session?

We will explore what is working or not working in your life, patterns that may have held you back from achieving your goals, ways to improve your understanding of yourself, and your personality, and specific skills or coping strategies you can use in various situations. In sessions, your answers to my questions may lead us to uncover things you were not aware of about yourself as well. My goal is to help you better understand yourself and your own inner strength.

Q: How long are the appointments?

My appointments last from 40-55 minutes, which is standard practice for a typical therapy session.

Q: How often will we meet?

Most of my clients request every other week (bi-weekly) appointments so they have time to monitor their progress in between. For those in crisis, I offer weekly appointments and for maintenance sessions, the interval between appointments may be monthly or longer based on your specific needs.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

Talknet Counseling is licensed and can see therapy clients in both Virginia and Florida. We are in the Network for Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Champ VA, Humana Military (Tricare East), Medicare, and United Healthcare (Optum) insurance plans. We also accept Medicaid plans on the commercial insurance policies listed above.
For those without insurance coverage, our self-pay rate for therapy is $65.00 per session.

Q: Can I cancel one of our sessions?

Yes, of course, but I do request at least 24 hours notice. Appointments can be booked or canceled on our website at www.talknetcounseling.com

Q: Do you prescribe medication?
No, I cannot prescribe medicine, but if I feel medication would be helpful or if you are requesting medication I will be happy to assist you in finding a provider.
